#24 Celica Ta22 Update

I started by stripping all the parts underneath. From crossmember to the pipeline to the axle and links. Next step was to add another layer of tar and anti rust, not just one. Not two but three layers of anti rust. It was a crucial process to make sure it withstands rust for like atleast 8 years or so.

Well it was a really messy process, the tar is sticky and really dusty. But the job wasnt as tough like i did before the paintjob.

I removed everything from the car. Threw all the stuffs away and change all new set from toyota ae86. But still some of the stuffs from the ae86 i cant fit and some i threw away to make way for upgraded version.

The front setup is a set of HWL adjustable ae86. Cross drilled disc. New bearing, brake pad, service respray etc.

The lowerarm is from ae86 with strength added. The bush is also changed to Polyurethane

Power steering rack was bought from halfcut and i cant determine from which car. But i made the crossmember rack mounting to fit the rack. Its kinda big though. For a bit upgrade i fitted a 5mm washer for a bit more angle as you can see from the ball head. The ball head was shorten and the tie rod i opted for a longer one. Its supposed to give me a tiny bit more angle. But with the help of ae86 power steering knuckle guess i have all the angles that i need

All sanded and sprayed. But the anti roll bar i think will not fit with 3sge beams engine. Guess ill have to find which is fit later. The caster also will be using adjustable from Tein. But the caster bush will also use Polyurethane like in the picture. I hope this car will still give me comfort. I hope...

The front parts after sanded and respray

Will not be using this cusco axle link

But will be using this Megan Racing adjustable axle link with ball bearing bushings. The reason is AE86 body is wider than TA22 chassis. Using the standard bush will tear the bush apart real quick as the axle link will not be straight and stress the bush out. Another method is to remove the axle link mounting on the axle and weld back to the position which the link will be straight with the body. But i really dont want any welding on the axle. The rear will also be using hi lo adjustable from HWL. And because i want to setup my car as low as possible. I bought Ultra Racing adjustable panhard rod to adjust my axle to centre position when i slammed the car. (Normal cases when you lower the ride height, the axle will move slightly to the left or right. And thats not a good geometry for spirited driving or something) Oh and also a set of rays lock nut

I bought the axle in terrible condition. I removed everything and service the brake. Clean up the crown gear. Respray the whole thing. Change to braided lines. Cross drilled disc etc. The rear axle is 4.3 LSD from AE86.

Install back everything. Seems like easy but all the damn screws are not the same!

But i finally got it back on the ground after few months hanging in the garage

This is not the final height. I havent yet adjust anything

I installed RCA from Cusco to make sure the lowerarm and tie rod doesnt stressed out. Most of the bushes are bought new and the lines soon should be braided

I tried my Enkei mesh and the stance looks good! But its 14 inch and i think it doesnt really suit the car and the engine. But dont worry. 15 inch 10.5jj -32 wata's is on the way and i hope it does look as good as this

Front part also settle. The Cusco pillowball are set at negative. But at this time im using ta22 crossmember and all the parts are from AE86. So the crossmember seems short for AE86 parts. Soon will be using different crossmember and for sure it will be longer than stock ta22 crossmember. I hope..
