#21 Celica Update

A while ago i visited my Celica, but i didnt update anything cause the progress is really slow.

A single trip from my house to this paint shop would normally take me about 1 hour without traffic jams. But thats not a big hassle. My biggest probs is time.

But i do check on the car at some times, and this update was on last march.

As you can see, the exterior are mostly done and sprayed to random color. The reason is to see which color are suitable and to check for bodyworks defect .

Dont forget on the hinges too.

So last week i decided to send most of the exterior parts to be installed. Got myself a brand new front and rear weatherstrip.

I decided to take a look at my rear centre panel. My car is an original 1st model TA22 which came originally with flat lamp and the petrol filler is between the rear lights.

But the previous owner decided to convert it to bubble lights. The differences is on the centre panel, the flat lamp panel is shorter than bubble's. The curve is concave on the flat lamps, whereas the panel is flat on the bubble lamps , and the bracket is also different as the panel can be open and close to allow me to refuel the tank. The solution is, weld a piece of steel to make the panel flat to follow the shape of the bubble lamp. What a waste.

Here's other original stuffs.

Load in the car with the windscreen and all.

Here's the latest looks

Not much really, he went on with a second layer of cement to really close up the inconsistence of the bodyline.

The bodyline is really crucial on this process.

Next process will includes undercoat, and a bit more cement to really close up the gap. Base coat will prepare for a new layer of paint.

Hopefully will be ready within this month.

adios~

#3 TE72 Project: Drifting lesson

This 1982 TE72 was born as a sports tourer during that era. But this car wasnt suitable at that time because economy was going down. People only needs a normal family 4 door sedan such as KE70.

So this car suffers the consequences and only sold in the market with a small amount of production. Which is good as the car is a bit rare and expensive in the market. Which is good for me and other TE owners!

Since i already bought the car, might as well drift the car.

This car only supporting a 4AGE 16V and a 2-way LSD. Underneath it hides nothing, only a pair of hi-lo adjustable at the front, which is rubbish.

I joined speedcity event for couple of times now, the reason i joined is to test my car capability and to understand how the chassis work with a standard setup. From there i can understand how stiff i want my car to be, how much angle i need and how much power i need to floor up the track.

Even the size of the rims and tires effects the handling. 15" on all four are rather heavy. I tried 15" at the front and 14" at the back, the angle was sharp but its still heavy and understeer will occur at some time

14" on four is the best so far, but since my car is underpowered, sometimes i need to use 13" at the back. However, it all depends on the track layout and condition. And that is all i can explain as the setting i have is only to keep changing tire size. I dont have camber setup, caster, soft-hard etc..

From what i can see on my previous events, my car REALLY needs a major tune up. My mind is already set on some stuffs that i will do after i finish up my Celica.
- A set of custom adjustables
-Pillowball
-Silvia lower arm
-Custom knuckle for super angle
-Spacers
-Some extra casters length

And thats all im targeting for now. I will join speedcity event again soon, but right after finishing up those list.

#2 Scrap 510

As you dont know, i bought this 510 for bodyparts only. And the only thing for me to take is nothing, i didnt take anything as my car is already complete. So other stuffs are available for sale.

And the car is getting more annoying by sitting in my garage without any function. So its time to remove the engine.

Engine removed without any problems

This engine is for sale, with the gearbox but without the twin su carburettore for only RM450 (Call/sms 019 341 6961)

Propeller shaft removed

Rear arms, axle and everything removed

Front suspension, windows, doors, interiors removed

The doors is for sale for RM50 each (call/sms 019 341 6961)

Fuel tank complete with hose also for sale RM50 (call/sms 019 341 6961)

And all that stuffs contribute to my already crowded space

And its getting really messy

So i called this guys toscrap the car and take it to the junkyard

Armed with a hammer and a chisel. They cut the car in pieces

And all left is all the other junks

Goodbye 510

And say hello to a cleaner garage

#6 510 Update

After 7 months left to rot outside the workshop, then finally it came to me that 7 months is a long time to install a gearbox. Since the workshop didnt do anything during that time, i decided to tow the car to a friend's workshop.

Its been a month since i moved the car, so there's a lot of progress since then

The floorboards looks tidy, no major holes. It looks rather well.

Gearbox polished and installed. Propeller shaft also installed. Since the gearbox is 2 inches longer, they had to cut the gearbox tunnel a bit, and also shorten the propeller shaft. The gearbox mounting is also different than the original. Notice that the shifter is also new.

The engine is ready to start

A bit more stuffs. Maybe will be done within this week. Only to sort the wiring

In other hand, i would like to show a bit rad style of 510

This is truly amazing, all original but only a bit slammed to the ground

A bit???

Aaaaand here's something i do like

Until then. adios
