#4 510 Update

Couple of weeks ago i got the engine jack from Kokdiang.

Thus making a mess with my garage. Needs to clear things up

And i used towing service to tow the car from in front of my house to inside of my house. And ready to rip off the engine

Got the engine out

And maybe to overhaul the engine

Removing the exhaust. Had to cut the exhaust in 2, in order to remove them.

Messy engine bay

Still a messy engine bay

Gearbox is waiting in line

So here comes the L series

Up front is the crossmember from Datsun 180k and followed by my original crossmember

So the modification done to install the 2tg is only to cut the middle hole in order to fit in the engine mounting.

Engine mounting from the Datsun 180K

So what i've done is i installed the mounting from the 180K to my original crossmember as it also have the same middle hole like the 2tg

And i tried to fit in first

Looks like its in

But my mounting doesnt sit in the right position. It was poorly align and i had to find original mounting from Datsun 510 in order to fit the engine mounting properly tighten with the original 4 hole on the crossmember mounting

And thats the least of my problem.. My oil sump stuck on the crossmember

The engine sit really high

Well then i had to remove the engine back

Tried using Datsun 180K crossmember but i had to do a lot of modification. So to fit in the engine, i have to find original Datsun 510 engine mounting.

And for the oil sump, i learned some interesting facts. Almost all of L series 4 cylinder engine from Datsun shares the same parts. But the difference in Datsun 180K and Bluebird 910, is the oil sump is at the front. However, the oil sump from Datsun 510 , 160j, 620, 720 etc is at the rear of the engine.

The solution is i have to find oil sump from another L series engine with the oil sump at the back. And problem solves.

And 1 last faults. I also have to do some modification to my gearbox mounting as it is different from my current one. And also had to cut the longshaft as the gearbox from 180k is a bit longer from 510

What a challenge, will continue tomorrow

#11 Celica TA22 Update

My dad bought me a jack and jackstands for me to use. Now its a lot easier to jack up the car and safer to work underneath the car. Lack of budget leads to lack of safety, thats why my dad steps in and bought this. Thanks!

Bought a cover for the lil star

and also for my newest project, will start end of this month

Finished with the tar!

cleaned the interior for grinding works

Underneath the car, a lot of tar i had to remove

and grind

But it finished!

Took me 3 solid hours to complete the whole undercarriage

And its time to slap on some anti rust

And i just finished with the job. Since its already midnight , ill snap some shots tomorrow and see for the result.

cheerios

#10 Celica TA22 Update

Since Eid day is just around the corner. I had to install all the parts to clear my house

Starting by the door

Fenders

The body started to rust already

Will send back to another body shop to change the steps and another body welding

Adjusting the door

Since its a coupe, adjusting the door is rather a hard job, because the door is long and really heavy

next update
